Metro Hotels is pleased to announce they have taken over the operation of the Dugong Beach Resort at Groote Eylandt in the Northern Territory, effective 7th January 2009.
The property comprises sixty waterfront rooms, bungalows and suites, set on 25 hectares of coastline with breathtaking ocean views from almost every part of the resort.
Dugong Beach Resort offers a relaxed and friendly atmosphere, set in a lush tropical landscape with restaurant, bar, fully-equipped functions and conference facilities, gymnasium, pools and spa, all inter-connected by boardwalks to preserve the natural surroundings.
The low-impact eco resort is owned by the Aboriginal people of Groote Eylandt, some of whom are employed at the resort. The resort also operates a cultural centre displaying local arts and providing a venue for cultural performances, enhancing your unique indigenous experience.
Groote Eylandt is a fantastic spot for fishing. The adjacent Escape Sport Fishing & Wilderness Lodge offers anglers the opportunity to experience the thrill of catching many different fish species, such as barramundi, black marlin, tuna, queen fish, sailfish, trevally, barracuda, mackerel, and billfish with many other reef species also in abundance.
